Red House

Room Descriptions - We hope this will help you in filling out your Room Request form!

Please remember that we assign rooms in the order we received your application and fee.  All of our rooms are great, so even if you have the most recent application date you will still get a great room!  We ask that you pretend you have the oldest date when filling out your room request form because you never know how the puzzle will fall into place!

Red House is located across the street from the Main House Front Desk.  It is the original Hardin House building and generally fills up with those who have very early application dates.  This is probably because many of the girls’ moms, aunts, sisters and even grandmothers lived in Red House and they sent in their applications early.  The rooms in Red House are very large, with huge closets and high ceilings.  Many of these rooms are triple occupancy, so be prepared to share your room and bath with others!  Because of the many three girl rooms, this house is dense with girls and is definitely for someone who can study and sleep with a lot of activity.  There are forty-three girls in the main Red House building and eighteen in the Red Annex, which is located across the courtyard and pool from Red House.  The Red Annex consists of six triple occupancy rooms on two floors.  Two of these rooms have their own bath for the three occupants and the other four share a bath with an adjoining room, having six girls share each bath.  In the main Red House building, rooms AA, BB and 1-5 are on the 1st floor along with a housemother’s apartment; rooms 6-16 are on the 2nd floor.  Red House also has a study and computer room as well as an exercise room and laundry room.  There are also two kitchenettes, one on each floor, with full refrigerators, microwaves and Keurig Coffee Makers. The spacious front lobby is a great place to relax and watch television, which also keeps the males occupied while waiting for our residents!   Red House residents join the rest of Hardin House in the one dining room located in Main House across the street. All rooms in Red House are in Category III as these rooms all have the greatest demand!

Red Double Shared Bath

These second floor, double occupancy rooms each have their own unique floor plan. A large bath, located in the hallway at the top of the stairs, is for rooms 6, 7, 8 and 9 to share. Although nine girls share the bath, it is very large and has two sinks, two showers and two commodes. Room 6 has a view to the north with large windows and two closets. Room 8 is unique because it has a pole in the middle, which residents have always loved decorating in a variety of interesting ways! Room 8 overlooks Rio Grande Street and Room 9 has a view to the south. Room 8 has two small closets and Room 9 has one larger one. The bath for rooms 10 and 11 is across the hall from the rooms. Both 10 and 11 face south and each has two large closets. Room 11 has windows on two sides with lots of built in drawers.

Red Triple Shared Bath

Going upstairs, Red 7 is now a triple occupancy room with a view of Rio Grande. This room shares a bath with rooms 6, 8 and 9 and has two large closets. (This room was our largest double but it was originally a 3 girl room and due to the huge demand for triples we have reverted back to a triple.)
