Frequently Asked Questions
Internet Access, Telephones and Television Cable

Is Hardin House wired for Internet access?
Yes. Every room is equipped with high-speed Internet service that connects directly to The University of Texas network. Internet service is provided through Apogee Telecom and is paid for directly by the resident. All you need to access this service is an Ethernet (LAN) card and a CAT 5 patch cable.

Our entire facility has wireless high-speed Internet throughout. A wireless card in your laptop and an account with Apogee is all you need to connect to the Internet throughout our building without any plugs! Call Apogee Telecom toll free for more information at (877) 276-4339.

Does my daughter have to have a phone in her room?
No, a phone is not required, though when the resident is expecting a food delivery, the delivery person will often not be able to call long distance. You can choose from a variety of phone plans from Apogee Telecom for a phone in the room at a very reasonable cost. Every room has enough phone lines for each resident, and some residents choose to share a line with roommates.

Do we have to bring our own TV?
We have community televisions in every house. Hardin House also offers televisions for rent to residents on a first-come, first-served basis. These 19” flat panel HD TVs save you from bringing your own TV, so you have one at home and school! As an added bonus, we rent small room refrigerators, too! We will send information about these rentals with your room assignment packet in May.
